Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week always impress and this week was no different.
Adam Elofson, Jade Wickwire and Kolby Tighe were impressive for the Fort Calhoun Pioneers, Blair Bears and Arlington Eagles, respectively.

Adam Elofson, Fort Calhoun football: The Pioneers dominated a ranked Pierce team and the starting quarterback certainly played his part. Elofson threw three touchdown passes, including a 49-yarder to Kade Foy, and scored another on the ground. Special shoutout to FCHS’ Kaiden Rodriguez, Tacey Belina, Addie Benoit and the cross-country boys, though. Rodriguez ran for three touchdowns against the Bluejays, too, Belina and Benoit hit a bunch of homers, and the Pioneers won the Blair XC Invite.

Jade Wickwire, Blair cross-country: The BHS girls won an invite title, too, and this runner was a big reason why. She ran the 5-kilometer course around Otte Blair Middle School in 21:18.41 on a hot day, leading her team to the hometown meet win. Special mention goes to Brooke Janning, Tessa Nicholson and Diane Mitchell. Janning gave up just one hit, struck out 28 batters and will, for sure, be mentioned again in a future Athlete of the Week installment for just how well her senior season is going. Nicholson and Mitchell, meanwhile, broke 100 strokes on the golf course this past week — a feat I’m certain I’ll never reach.

Kolby Tighe, Arlington cross-country: The best athlete to interview in Washington County high school sports was the best runner at the Blair XC Invite, too. The Eagle ran 5K in 17:20.85, winning the boys' race by nearly 40 seconds. Special mention goes to Hailey O’Daniel, who also won a race in Blair, as well as the AHS volleyball team. The Eagles won their fourth match of the season Saturday, officially doubling last year’s win total. More success is on the way, I reckon.

As always, thanks for reading. Tell a Washington County student-athlete congratulations this week.
