Syracuse scored first Tuesday at the RVR Bank Sports Complex, but the host Arlington Eagles softball team scored often.
Kallan Reed scored last during the sixth inning as AHS won by run-rule, 9-1. It improved to 8-9 with the home win, while the Rockets dropped to 6-14 in defeat.
The road team, however, produced the game's first run during the top of the fourth inning. The Eagles responded immediately during the bottom half when Lydia Schaapveld plated Britt Nielsen.
With the score even, 1-1, Arlington took the lead for good during the bottom of the fifth frame. It scored four runs with Gwen Bostwick plating the first by triple, according to GameChanger stat-keeping. Lauren Pittman, Nielsen and Schaapveld turned at-bats into runs during the inning, too.
Then, during the sixth frame, the Eagles put the game away with four more runs, including Reed's.
Tessa Spivey, meanwhile, earned the pitching victory.
AHS was scheduled to face West Point GACC on Thursday and next hosts its home tournament Saturday. The first of three Eagles games starts at 9 a.m. against North Bend Central before matchups at, approximately, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
