Bears claim Eastern Midlands Conference honors

Volleyball and football players, golfers recognized

The Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) recently released its full list of fall sports all-conference honorees.
Blair High School volleyball, football and softball players were recognized as well as four golfers.

Volleyball
Two Bears from the district finalist volleyball team were listed among the EMC's honorees.
Taylor Mostek made the all-conference team, leading BHS in kills with 203 this fall, according to stats uploaded to maxpreps.com. The junior also notched a team-best 44 aces with 15 blocks and 278 digs.
Senior Savanah Roan, meanwhile, earned honorable mention. The libero — who signed with Southeast Community College earlier this month — led Blair with 353 digs this past season. Her team finished the fall 10-22 overall.

Football
In football, the Bears' Bode Soukup and Brock Templar made the all-conference team after a 6-5 season.
Soukup, a senior quarterback, threw 20 touchdown passes and for more than 1,500 yards. He plans to walk-on at Nebraska next fall.
Templar, meanwhile, closed out his junior season with more than 1,500 rushing yards and 12 total touchdowns. Ten of those scores came in the running game.
Additionally, Blair's Thomas Chikos, Ethan Baessler, Braden McGill, Crayton Macholan, Ben Holcomb, Riley Wolff, Brady Brown, Triston Clausen, Blaise Baughman, Cornez Tucker, Dylan Swanson, Cooper Sorensen and Gavin Ulrich all claimed EMC honorable mention for their efforts.

Golf
Four BHS golfers also claimed all-conference academic recognition.
Hannah Mackie, Carrie Truhlsen, Wrylee Osterhaus and Mackenzie Storjohann were noted for their contributions. Osterhaus (102 strokes), Truhlsen (110) and Storjohann (119) helped Blair finish sixth during October's Class B-2 District Tournament at River Wilds Golf Club.

Softball
Blair All-EMC softball selections were previously published in the Nov. 14 Washington County Pilot-Tribune. All-conference first-team selections were Nessa McMillen, Kalli Ulven, Leah Chance, Brooke Janning and Sophia Wrich. Joslyn Policky, Claire Mann and Bria Scott claimed honorable mention as well.
