The Blair Little League Majors All-Stars earned their spot in the second weekend of Nebraska Little League State Tournament play Sunday.
Competing in Kearney, the All-Stars bested Memorial Little League 7-1 in an elimination game. They will next contend for a victory 8 p.m. today back in Kearney. With wins today and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, they will play for the state tournament title Sunday at 2 p.m.
Blair produced a four-run fifth inning to pull away from Memorial during last Sunday's matchup. Owen Swaney, Finn Johnson, Drew Greenwood and Triston Dein all notched RBIs during the frame, according to GameChanger stat-keeping.
The Majors team is 4-1 overall since the postseason started with a district tourney in Blair.
Blair Little League's second team in Kearney for state — the Minors All-Stars — was eliminated Sunday with its second loss of the tournament. Memorial topped the All-Stars 14-1 after a Saturday loss to Grand Island.
Blair's Minors team reached state with an 8-3 win against South Sioux City on July 7. Brody Johnson notched three hits during the district game.
