The Blair Senior Legion baseball team played two Saturday afternoon at Vets Field.
Coach James Bilslend's Bears went 2-0, routing Holdrege 12-1 and 11-3. Post 154, which had its Friday night game called off by weather, is 29-5 overall through 34 games.
Blair next competes this Friday during the Class B Area 3 Tournament in Fort Calhoun. First-round matchups were not officially announced as of press time.
Post 154 jumped out to a large lead during the first inning of Saturday's opener with Holdrege. After pitcher Lucas Matejka held the visiting team scoreless during the top half of the opening frame, the home squad posted eight in the bottom half.
Blair's Tanner Jacobson and Greyson Kay drew back-to-back walks to start before Brady Brown's RBI single into right field. Nate Wachter hit next, notching a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 advantage.
Nelson Kosch and Lee Chavez-Lara followed, drawing free bases to load them for Dylan Swanson, who hit an RBI single. Carter Saylor's single scored two more for a 5-0 lead before Jackson Livingston sacrificed.
In his second at bat of the opening inning, Jacobson hit an RBI triple for a 7-0 advantage on the scoreboard. Kay's run-scoring single capped the frame as Blair ran away with the Senior Legion game.
Matejka earned the pitching win after Colton Flynn closed it out. Swanson, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 with a double.
In the second matchup of the doubleheader, Post 154 scored two more runs during the opening inning. Brown later made it 3-0 with a third-inning home run beyond the 336-foot fence in left field.
The Bears' lead reached 6-0 through four frames before Holdrege tallied the next three runs in a comeback attempt. That threat was thwarted by Blair, which scored five runs during the bottom of the sixth frame to end a second-straight game early by run rule, 11-3.
