The Fort Calhoun Senior Legion baseball team started a Springfield tournament Thursday, topping Lincoln Christian 7-0.
Colin Bolay pitched the six-inning no-hitter, striking out 10 batters for the victory. JT Mlnarik and Chase Premer, meanwhile, led Post 348 at the plate with two RBIs apiece. Both batters went 2-for-3 with Premer producing a double.
Kenny Wellwood, Josh Miranda and Carter Christensen also plated runs during Zig Drywall's 17th win of the season. AJ Duros and Miranda notched two hits each, too.
Calhoun was supposed to play again Saturday, but coach Jerry Wellwood reached out to Enterprise Media Group early that morning to note its cancellation. The tourney was scheduled to continue Sunday with results set to appear in this Friday's Washington County Enterprise edition.
Post 348 will start its Class B Area 3 Tournament hosting duties Friday, too. Postseason games are tentatively set for 1, 4 and 7 p.m. with Arlington and Blair both set to take part alongside ETC Knights Red, the Kelly Ryan Pride of Omaha Roncalli and Waterloo-Valley. First-round matchups were not officially announced as of press time.
