Friday Football Update: Blair knocks off No. 2 Gretna

A 1-1 Blair High School football team knocked off Class B No. 2 Gretna on Friday, improving to 2-1.
The Fort Calhoun Pioneers and Arlington Eagles, meanwhile, lost games. The Pioneers dropped to 2-1, while the Eagles stand at 1-2.

Bears rout Dragons
Brock Templar totaled more than 300 offensive yards and scored six touchdowns as BHS dismantled Gretna at Krantz Field, 55-22.
The Bears led 27-7 at halftime and added to their lead during the second half before it was ultimately called off with 3:42 left when a Dragon suffered a serious leg injury.
Altogether, Templar unofficially finished with 265 rushing yards. Blaise Baughman had 58, too.
Keenan Wyman and Andrew Smutny scored first-half Blair touchdowns as well with quarterback Cooper Sorensen going 9-for-13 through the air for 178 yards.

FCHS drops homecoming game
Boys Town (3-0 overall) scored 22 first-half points Friday, holding off Fort Calhoun 22-14 during the Pioneers’ homecoming game.
FCHS trailed 8-0 after the first quarter and 22-0 at halftime, but scored a touchdown apiece during the third and fourth quarters to give itself a chance. Quarterback Adam Elofson first connected with Blake Welchert on a 6-yard score before completing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Namuth with 2:02 left in the game.

Eagles lose on the road
Ben Flesner scored a fourth-quarter touchdown, but the Arlington Eagles fell on the road to Class C2 No. 10 Raymond Central, 41-8.
The AHS back scored from 3 yards out, but not until after the Mustangs earned a 41-0 advantage through three quarters.
