Friday Football Update: Eagles win in Tekamah as BHS, FCHS drop games

The Arlington High School football team improved to 3-5 overall Friday night as Fort Calhoun and Blair dropped to 6-2 and 2-6, respectively.
The Eagles bested Tekamah-Herman in their second-to-last regular season game, while the Pioneers lost handily to Class C1 No. 1 Wahoo and the Bears fell on the road to Class B No. 8 Elkhorn by seven points.

Arlington 32, Tekamah-Herman 10: Backs Dallin Franzluebbers and Killian McIntosh combined for five rushing touchdowns as the Eagles picked up their third win of the season. McIntosh scored the first two on runs of 15 and 68 yards before Franzluebbers crossed the goal line on rushes of 15, 47 and 12 yards. Owen Ladehoff added a 2-point conversion score during the game as AHS moves on to face Fremont Bergan in its home and regular season finale next Friday.

No. 8 Elkhorn 28, Blair 21: The Bears built a first-half lead for the second-straight week, but couldn’t win on the road against the Antlers. Blaise Baughman scored BHS’ first two touchdowns on a 12-yard run and a 42-yard pass from Cooper Sorensen as coach Bryan Soukup’s team went ahead 14-0. From there, though, Elkhorn outscored the Bears 28-7 with Hayden Daggett scoring the road team’s lone second-half touchdown on a 26-yard throw from Sorensen. Blair faces Omaha Skutt — which ended Bennington’s 46-game winning streak Friday, 38-30 — in its regular season finale next week.

No. 1 Wahoo 57, No. 7 Fort Calhoun 7: The Pioneers scored first at home Friday night, but didn’t again as the dominant Warriors remained unbeaten. FCHS’ Jayson Reynolds earned the first-quarter touchdown on punt coverage, falling on the ball in the end zone after Kenny Wellwood disrupted the Wahoo player’s attempt to come up with it. The Pioneers close out regular season play next Friday against Douglas County West.
