The Arlington High School football team celebrated homecoming week Friday with its first home victory since Oct. 1, 2021.
The Eagles (2-4 overall) routed North Bend Central 38-14, capitalizing on their preparation earlier in the week, coach Troy Schlueter said.
“We had a good physical practice on Tuesday that helped us play with some toughness tonight,” he explained.
It showed in the running game as AHS amassed 378 rushing yards on 61 attempts. Killian McIntosh carried the ball 18 times for 196 yards and two scores, including a 50-yarder during the third quarter.
Quarterback Owen Ladehoff, meanwhile, turned 12 carries into 75 yards and three touchdowns.
“I think our line had a very good game tonight,” Schlueter said, crediting Luke Ott, Karson Foust, homecoming king Zane Gerrish, Stokely Lewis, Brodie Wilkins and Tanner Meyer, specifically. “Those guys opened some massive holes.”
Arlington skill players Luke Sharp, Schuyler Logemann, Tucker Jorgensen and Trent Koger all blocked well, too, the coach added.
Along with McIntosh and Ladehoff, Dallin Franzluebbers benefitted. He had 48 rushing yards, Ben Flesner had 33 and Oliver Ladehoff totaled 19.
The Eagles' Trent Koger caught two Owen Ladehoff passes for 32 yards, too. He, like Sharp, caught a two-point conversion pass as well.
Defensively, Arlington gave up the game's first points on a 30-yard North Bend Central pass. The Eagles' offense ultimately scored enough points to combat the Tigers' output, but Coach Schlueter said his team's defense adjusted, too. Assistant coaches Luke Hoesing and Layne Laaker played important roles from the head coach's perspective as did the players.
AHS next competes Friday at Yutan.
