AHS Eagles drop 2
The Arlington High School softball team failed to score a run during the final night of its regular season schedule.
The Eagles (12-17 overall) traveled to Valley for a triangular Thursday and lost back-to-back matchups to Class C No. 5 Douglas County West — their host — and No. 6 Yutan/Mead. The Falcons won 8-0 in five innings before the Patriots secured a 12-0 victory in just three.
AHS first held DC West within a run during the first two innings, but fell behind after a four-run third frame. The Falcons added three fourth-inning scores, too, before the Eagles struck out and grounded out during the top of the fifth.
Yutan/Mead, however, didn't take as long to put coach Janelle Lorsch's team away. After a two-run first inning, the Patriots scored nine during the second to take a commanding lead.
Arlington was scheduled to compete Monday during the Class C Subdistrict 2 Tournament at Hackberry Fields in Wahoo. An update can be found online at enterprisepub.com/sports.
