JV Bears play twice
Junior varsity Blair High School golfers competed April 12 and Thursday last week.
First, the Bears played their home course — River Wilds Golf Club — during a Bennington JV meet. A day later, they were to play Ashland Golf Club for another junior varsity event. Tyler Lantry finished seventh in the road tournament.
The varsity Bears, meanwhile, host their home Invitational 9 a.m. today at River Wilds. Both Arlington and Fort Calhoun are scheduled to attend.

Pioneers take 8th in Leigh
The Fort Calhoun gold team finished eighth out of 14 teams April 12 during the Patriot Invite in Leigh.
The Pioneers finished with 122 strokes over par — 410 swings — at Club 91 Golf Course, tying Plainview and besting Clarkson-Leigh's junior varsity lineup by nine. Cedar Bluffs won the event with a final score of 74-over-par.
While David City Aquinas' Jaylin Jakub finished just 4-over-par to take first, FCHS' Vincent Bonacci was 25-over with 97 strokes for 27th out of 72 golfers. Owen Miller was 29th at 26 over (98 strokes), while Jayden Miller took 35th (29 over). Beau Ruma (42 over) and Jack Doyle (58 over) were 54th and 62nd, respectively.
The next day, Thursday, Calhoun JV golfers Aiden Garbers, Caden Newman, Abbey Lienemann, Adriana Hernandez and Leah Klabunde played in Ashland. Their varsity team next competes 9 a.m. today at Blair's home tournament.
