An unidentified parent of an Otte Middle School student was arrested on campus Tuesday afternoon when Blair Police and the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call at the school, according to Blair Police Capt. Travis Lyon.

"The investigation is still going on," Lyon told the Washington County Enterprise at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. "So I can't go into exact details on a lot of stuff on it. But we responded there, placed the person in custody and that's the rest of the statement I have now."

Chief Joseph Lager said he had no idea what this one person was attempting to do in the school.

"We have no idea. It was just a disturbance call," Lager said. "It had nothing to do with an armed intruder. It was a distraught male coming into the school, so we had a bunch of response there just to make sure."

The suspect was apprehended outside of Otte Middle School, according to a statement issued by Superintendent Randy Gilson at 3:52 p.m.  Tuesday. He said he was happy to report that all students had been released from the hold, and all students and staff were safe.

An updated story will be available in Friday's Washington County Enterprise.
