Phyllis M. Coryell, age 96 of Blair, passed away September 19th, 2024, at home in Blair, surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held October 25th at 2 p.m. in the Kennard Cemetery for her and for Bruce, as they wanted a double funeral.

Phyllis was born August 17, 1928, in Kennard, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Anna Jensen. She was raised on a farm outside of Kennard and lost her mother at age 14. Phyllis then moved on her own to Blair as a teen to attend Blair High School, where she graduated in 1946.

On January 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Bruce R. Coryell. In 1956, the couple moved to California Junction, Iowa. The family lived there until 2011 when they moved to Blair. Phyllis worked as a manager for H&R Block for 25 years until she retired and took up the mantle as the primary event planner for her very large extended family. Phyllis loved to laugh on a patio with a glass of wine or a margarita in her hand, surrounded by loved ones, up until the very end.

Phyllis is survived by her siblings: Corinne Boyer of Woodville, OH, and Robert (Sherry) Jensen of Santa Ynez, CA; children: Marsha (Stuart) Hardy of Palm Coast, Florida, Cathy (Kevin) Campbell of Blair, Robert (Angela) Coryell of St. Louis, Missouri, and Susan Vaziri (Carl Gossard) of Prescott, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, an honorary “bonus” daughter and granddaughter (LuAnn and Elizabeth Fuhlrodt), and innumerable nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce R. Coryell, parents, Albert “Ab” and Anna Jensen, her brothers Harold Jensen and James M. Mortensen, granddaughter Logan Hardy, and many other loved ones.
