Russell Merle Sonderup, age 69, passed away October 8, 2024, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, with family around him.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Blair, NE. Burial will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, beginning at 2 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair, NE.
Russell Merle Sonderup was born on June 30, 1955, in Blair, Nebraska, to Merle and Arlene (Olson) Sonderup. He was baptized on August 7, 1955 and confirmed on May 4, 1969 at First Lutheran Church in Blair, NE. He graduated from Blair High School in 1973. On May 20, 1978, he was united in marriage to Kathy Olson at First Lutheran Church.
Russell grew up on a farm north of Blair. After graduation, Russell worked construction with several different companies until he retired in 2020. He enjoyed this work. He also enjoyed driving around and crop touring on Saturday mornings.
Russell is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Ryan (Jo) Sonderup, Merle (Monica) Sonderup, Keri (Ian) Reiss, Joy Sonderup; grandchildren: Isabelle and Matthew Reiss; sisters: Wanda (Randy) Blomker, Ruth (Bruce) Arp; sister-in-law: Kelli Sonderup; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne, daughter Mari and mother and father-in-law Betty and Edward Olson.
