Wanda “Midge” Pearl Green died September 27, 2024, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Friday October 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.  Private graveside services will be held in the Herman Cemetery.

Wanda “Midge” Pearl Green was born April 16, 1920, at Herman, Nebraska, to Elmer Henry Miller and Goldie Pearl (Saltzman) Miller.  The family moved to Tekamah in 1926. She attended Tekamah District #2 School and Tekamah High School. During her high school years, she worked for local families. 

She married Earl McDonald of Craig, Nebraska, in 1936 and moved to Craig, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Shirley and twins, Phillip and Phyllis. They moved back to Tekamah on a farm west of town. She worked at City Café and Club Café for several years.

She married Delbert (Brady) Green of Herman in 1959, and they resided in Herman. Midge cooked at Freeman’s Café and later worked as a bartender at Bar 73 for 23 years.

Her volunteer work included Crowell Home Services and Good Shepherd Nursing Homes for 17 years, Veterans Hospital in Omaha for 7 years, and she served on the board for ENHA in Washington County.  She was a charter member and organizer of the Herman Fire Department Auxiliary, The Ding-A-Lings, and was a member for 23 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary until her death. Midge was voted Herman Citizen of the Year in 1996, and grand marshall of the Herman Days in 2011. She was an in-home caregiver for her husband, and several other family members and friends during their final days. In 2019 she moved into her apartment at Crowell Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer B. Miller, husband Brady, grandson Gary Schutt, son Phillip McDonald, grandson Shawn McDonald and granddaughter Kelly Seiders.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Schutt of Blair and Phyllis Seiders of Clinton, Iowa; daughter-in-law Teri McDonald of Surprise, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family; Diane and Mark List of Omaha, and Shiloh Love and family of San Antonio, Texas.

The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah or Herman Fire and Rescue.
