I think I’m getting back in my groove now.
It’s time for difficult decisions and new Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week, and I’m up to the task.
Yep, I feel good about this trio of Washington County standouts — Taylor Mostek, Seth Waters and Dallin Franzluebbers.

Taylor Mostek, Blair volleyball: The Bears are a healthy 7-3 this season and this four-year starter is a big reason why. Mostek played four matches with her BHS teammates this past week and led the squad in kills each time. She had 41 during the 3-1 stretch altogether. Special mention, however, goes to Nadia Davey for leading the Blair cross-country girls to a second-place finish in Plattsmouth.

Seth Waters, Fort Calhoun cross-country: Speaking of Plattsmouth, this Pioneer led FCHS’ cross-country team with a seventh-place effort there during the season-opening race. He clocked in 17:56.04 and said he was tired afterward, but I was tired from watching, so I think it’s fair to say that he’s doing good things so far this fall. Special mention, however, goes to Calhoun running back Kaiden Rodriguez who scored three touchdowns Friday as the Pioneers routed Omaha Roncalli at home.

Dallin Franzluebbers, Arlington: Now, speaking of cross-country, that’s the sport this Eagle used to do. This fall, though, he’s on the football field, running for 141 yards and two scores during AHS’ win at Conestoga. Franzluebbers caught a few passes for 18 yards, too. Special mention, though, belongs to Hailey O’Daniel. The senior won her cross-country opener in Concordia, which would normally get you Athlete of the Week honors. Since it’s Hailey, though, I’m not the least bit worried about her getting back into contention with more strong showings in the coming months.

Yeah, I do have this down again. Feels good.
Thanks for reading, and congrats to all of the athletes for having another strong week.
