The Arlington junior varsity softball team made a major comeback Tuesday in Uehling, winning 10-8.
Coach Janelle Lorsch's varsity Eagles squad, however, led from the first inning on against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, producing a 9-0 shutout victory. Pitcher Tessa Spivey threw all seven innings, securing her second shutout of the young season.
AHS' varsity lineup moved to 3-1 overall after jumping ahead of the Raiders with two runs during the first inning. Freshman Lauren Pittman turned her first at-bat of the game into the Eagles' first run and later scored on a Logan View miscue.
Arlington added runs during the third and fifth innings, too, before pulling away from its host during the top of the seventh with five more scores. Britt Nielsen, who finished with three hits, highlighted the scoring onslaught with a home run.
The Eagles were scheduled to play Thursday in David City against Blue River before Saturday's tournament in West Point. Coach Lorsch's squad starts the Bluejay Invite with a game against Tekamah-Herman at 10 a.m.
