Louise Mencke, age 103 of Blair, passed away August 20, 2024. Services for Louise will be held Friday, August 30th, at 2 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church of Blair. A reception is planned after the graveside services at the First Lutheran Church banquet room. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 29th, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.

Louise Catherine Schneider Mencke was born in rural Douglas County to Carl and Catherine (Paasch) Schneider on May 14, 1921. Louise was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. She was an active member of the church and the women's circles, including president of church women and superintendent of Sunday School.

Louise was united in marriage to George Henry Mencke in Blair on May 14, 1940.  The couple moved to Blair in 1976 after 36 years of farming. They joined First Lutheran Church upon moving to town where Louise enjoyed being the wedding hostess, an active member of the Rebeckah Circle, member of the extension club, “Ladies night out,” president of Good Shepherd Auxiliary for two terms and working many years for Good Shepherd Home, the Good Shepherd Bazaar and Memorial Community Hospital. Louise loved being around people. Card club was her biggest pleasure, and she loved gathering with friends for lunch or dessert. She was a member of a ’40s dance club in Omaha and a member of Ladies Auxiliary at North Eagles in Omaha. She loved and cared for her family, and she lifted others up with her positive outlook. Louise was a fountain of family history and enjoyed sharing her stories with family and friends.

Louise is survived by her granddaughter Rochelle Miller of Tennessee and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Sharon Miller, Son-in-Law Dale Miller, parents, siblings and grandson. Her reunion in heaven will be a grand occasion.

The family asks, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or the Blair Rescue Squad.
